Problems accessing Textise

We’re aware that some users are having difficulties accessing Textise. Please be assured that we’re investigating and hope for a swift resolution.

EDIT (28/02/2016): Hoping that everyone can now access Textise OK. Seems there was a problem with some IP address blocking at my hosting company.
If you’re still have troubles, please let us know!

Web Service lock-down!

Today I’ve implemented a change to the way that the Textise web service is called. The reason for this is that some people have been abusing the service by hitting it with ridiculous amounts of traffic, which obviously has an adverse effect on Textise as a whole.

I’m very happy for the web service to remain available as a stand-alone service but I’ve now added a new mandatory parameter, a GUID. In future, if you want to be able to call the web service directly (that is, without going via the textise.net site), you’ll need your own GUID, Just contact me, with some details about how you’re using the service, and I’ll send you your very own!

Thanks for bearing with me on this.

DDOS attack

Many apologies to anyone struggling with Textise today. Unfortunately, some idiot has been using it as a proxy for a denial of service attack on booking.com, causing server and application errors.

My hosting company have had to throttle Textise to protect other sites on their servers and, at the moment, I’m trying to persuade them to remove the throttling because I’m now blocking booking.com, which should stop the problem.

Once again, many apologies. Hopefully normal service will be resumed very soon.

Update 23:49 BST: Textise (and SEOtext) working fine now. I’ve had to block booking.com to stop the DDOS attacks. Annoying but it has worked. Sorry for any inconvenience.

2010 in review

This is the official WordPress 2010 review of the Textise Dev Blog.  It’s nice of the WordPress people to be so supportive. Better in 2011, of course. And bigger. And better. Yeah!

Where did they come from?

The top referring sites in 2010 were textise.net, wordpress.org, google.com, hoiantoday.info, and twitter.com.

Some visitors came searching, mostly for textise, server was unable to process request. —> length cannot be less than zero., and wordpress text only version.

[Ian’s comment: I’m now wondering if it’s such a good idea, encouraging you all to post error reports containing specific ASP.NET error descriptions because now, if you search for “server was unable to process request. —> length cannot be less than zero.“, this blog’s the second result! Pah.]
